A Sum Up Of My Summer.

With the school days fast approaching us and the soon to only be a memory summer leaving us slowly, time has made me realize a few things.

First of all, I’ve learnt that days, weeks and months fly by when you’re surrounded by things that make you happy, whether it’s the hot sand, friends, family, pets, or whatever, as long as you live and enjoy the moment, it doesn’t matter. To be completely honest with you, this year I didn’t go out as much as I used to in the past years, maybe because of the heat, the members of my small group of friends all either being on constant holidays / living at a long distance ( ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ), I just didn’t go outside as much. I did leave the house though, don’t worry :))). Speaking of long distance friends, I feel like this June I’ve made a friend for life. We get along so incredibly well and just get each other, I am v grateful for her <3. And I feel like, despite the long distance, I get along w her better than I do with most of my friends (not that I have hundreds, as you know, I am extremely socially awkward). So this has been a huge part of my summer.

Second of all, this just had to come up, this year I have this internet page you’re currently reading, aka my BLOG, which has become the thing I enjoy doing a lot, it’s my escape to the weekend. I just enjoy typing down my opinions and thoughts so much, it makes me feel listened to. So, thank you for listening, or shall I say reading? x

My summer wasn’t at all that full of events, it was simple, yet still lovely for me. It was kind of a retirement from my past years, where I would spend like 12 hours a day outside, which isn’t necessarily bad, but I feel like I needed a break. I’M GETTING OLD I NEED A BREAK ALRIGHT. Also, 2018 is 4 months away. YEP. LET THAT SINK IN. Which also means, that Christmas is coming VERY soon (and I might do Blogmas ;)) and on NYE, my blog turns 1 year old. Wow. ~feelings~

But now that school is 24 days away (oH MY GOD) , I need to get back on my regular schedule: loads of courses, studying, not so much, yet still enough time for myself and more, to be honest. Don’t worry, I’ll always have the weekend available to type down ‘love letters’ to y’all. That’s how it’s always been, and that’s how it’ll always be.

So, this little chat has to come to an end. What am I expecting from summer of 2018 (feels so weird to say it ugh)? I don’t know. Probably seeing more places, and my long distance friend (that’s been on my bucket list for quite some time). What are YOU expecting from your summer? And how was the hot season of 2017 for you? Reasons Why Being Single Rocks

Are you single? Feeling bad about yourself? Constantly finding yourself eating your way out of your emotions? Are you sad that you haven’t interacted w actual humans for quite some time? Don’t be, I’ve got exactly what you need to feel better!

Start off by thinking about 3 of the many, many miserable situations people in reltionships are put in:

Number 1: You’ll have to share your food with them.

I am not a very selfish person. Hell, if I could, I would share my kidney with my cat (don’t ask). But when it comes to food, there’s a spiritual level of attachment. If I see one finger move towards the last piece of pizza on the counter, I basically transform into that caveman spongebob meme. Like I go into protection mode REAL QUICK. And just imagining having to COOK for 2 people, SEEING the double batch of food in front of me and NOT EATING it whole, seems just impossible for me. And then there’s the times you’re feeling kinda hungry so you make yourself some fries, and, being the thoughtful person that you are, you ask them if they want any, they say no, and when they’re ready they’re like “Can I have some?” NO, YOU CAN’T HAVE ANY OF MY FRIES. YOU SAID YOU DIDN’T WANT ANY FRIES. GET YOUR OWN DAMN FRIES DAMMIT. So that’s a no-no for me.

Number 2: You’ll most probably have to clean up after them a lot, like they’re a fricken baby.

If there is one thing on this planet I have a love-hate relationship with, that’s cleaning. Like, sometimes I wanna get up and clean the whole house until everything sparkles like they show in cartoons, but that only if it’s my mess. You could throw a fricken grenade on the floor- i’m not pickin it up. Your hand threw it, your hand is picking it up. And if they make a mess in the whole room, they expect ME to clean it up?? HELL NO.

Number 3: you’ll probably have several fights over the TV

There are 2 things that I do: eat and watch TV. Seriously. And you’re asking me to share the 2 things I love?? HELL TO THE NAW. I mean, imagine. It’s a hot Monday afternoon. Wendy Williams’ show is on and she is P O P P I N G ! *how you doin?* And then comes the brat, asking for the remote to watch some stupid match that he could also watch online (i mean, you could too, BUT IT’S NOT THE SAME THING OKAY) , so you have to decide. Hmmm, which one do you choose? Wendy Williams saying “HOW YOU DOIN?” or some sweaty men fighting over a ball…Hmmmmmm

OH BUT THAT’S NOT ALL: you have to think of birthday gifts, actually SPEND MONEY ON THEM and all that stuff which is just a huge pain in the butt, and that’s only ONE occasion, then there’s Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Anniversaries, OH MY GOD. HOLY CRAP RELATIONHIPS ARE EXPENSIVE. And what even do you pay for? Uncomfortable conversations about the future? Awkward first impressions? THAT’S A BIG NO-NO FOR ME.

And if you still somehow feel bad about being single, here’s the answer:

The place. The myth. The candystore.

If you’re insecure about your love life, grab a shopping cart and shop your worries away! You’ll instantly fall in love with the unhealthily diverse candy aisle, and absolutely no one will judge you. And the best part is, it’s your life and your credit card, so you can get whatever the f you want!! YES, QUEEN! SLAYYYYY!!

In conclusion, single is the way to go.

In A Heartbeat.

Four days ago, the internet embraced a pretty major change, which is bringing up the LGBT topic into kids’ animation for the first time, which is amazing!

The extremely talented creators, Beth + Esteban, senior Computer Animation majors at Ringling College of Art + Design, find a heart-warming way to address this personal issue many kids have today.

A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dream

The world that we live in is very hardly accepting LBGTQ+ community, which must change immediately, but on the internet, you’re accepted just the way you are, and you can also find loads of people who feel the same like you, and maybe even some who want to help you.

In the short film, the main character hides from “the boy of his dream”, embarrassed and scared of rejection, but his heart can’t take it any more and “pops out of his chest”. When the two boys meet in the school hallway, everyone stares at them judgementally, which causes the boy’s heart to break. He then runs away, but eventually the teens meet again, but my question is, what happens next? Are they and their loved ones going to embrace their sexuality, or are they going to be too overwhelmed by the judgement from them and split?? I am so confused, yet so excited! This concept should be supported by EVERYONE, whether or not they are part of the LGBT community.

Not only is this subject approached so sweetily, but also the graphics are adorable af, Imean, LOOK AT THOSE LITTLE NOSES ASDFGHJKL

To bring this project to life, you can pledge anywhere from $5 to $1000. By far, there are $14,191 pledged of $3,000 goal, which is incredible!ย  I really do want to see this film come to life, simply because it touches a delicate topic a lot of people avoid. We can’t run away from the present, hoping that we won’t ever find it again in the future. Queer people are not a burden and must be treated equally. Just because their hearts chose to take other ways, or multiple roads, doesn’t mean they are anormal and need to get rid of. We’re all humans, after all. It got real cheesy in here, I’m getting them sweats for real. But seriously.

Stop labeling, start living.

Birthday Celebrations // Oh My Lord, It’s August

Today I am doing another ‘chatty’ blog post, because you seemed to enjoy the last one, so here I am!

Okay, Yes, today is my birthday, and I actually wasn’t going to do a blog post, since it wasn’t that big of a deal + I haven’t got any photos. Other than that, it really wasn’t anything that you would find special, we just got our little shananigans on and SPILLED ALLLL the tea on lame topics that caught our eye, oh well =)))). It was really nice spending quality time with quality people, although I wish that one more special person came =(( (distance, whyyyyy) , but it was still pretty amazing anyway. But now that my birthday is almost over and I’m coming back to reality again, I’m just realising that, HOLY CRAP, IT’S AUGUST. Like how? who? when? and why? The last month of summer is approaching us, which means the streets are soon going to be laced with leaves, the wind is going to sing in colours, the sky is going to mould into grey, fluffy chunks and so on, and the moment you get the “seasonal butterflies”, as I like to call the moment where you get v excited for a certain time, you remember that summer isn’t officially over, and get sad that you most probably won’t be able to go to the beach again in a few weeks’ time, and it just plants that sadness inside you, which is quickly replaced by ambition to make every second left of this month count, but this ambition is hard to maintain, since the stores are bringing the more autumnal and seasonal stuff in WAY earlier, which gives the excitement for autumn all over again, and you get through this everlasting cycle, which properly stops when summer ends. Am I the only one who gets through this each year? Like, seasons are like pets: you get attached to them real quick, and when you have to let go of them, it’s the hardest thing ever!

To be 100% honest with you, my little bubble of excitement for autumn is slowly growing bigger, I mean, I am VERY excited for all my autumn blog posts, since I have loads planned out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, moving forward from the drama, if you do go through what I’ve mentioned earlier, try not to stress too much, after all these 3 hot months that we’ve got are our refuge from work and stress, so stay chill ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve got soooo many things I would like to chat you through, but I really don’t know if everyone enjoys this type of blog posts, I have to say that I can get pretty rambly sometimes, so there’s that. Thank you for sticking around anyway though, means a lot xx

Simple Steps to Detox | The Ultimate Guide

Today we are discussing everything detox. Before we dive into it, let’s first see what ‘detox’ means:

a period when you stop taking unhealthy or harmful foods, drinks, or drugs into your body for a period of time, in order to improve your health:

So there’s that.  And what this definition claims is correct, meaning that you need to let go of ‘harmful foods’ and everything in order to be healthy, but that’s not really what a detox fully is.

So when you research your shizz on a ‘cleanse’ or ‘detox’, you usually find very techincal-complicated-medical-sounding stuff, that you are not really there for. The purpose of a ‘cleanse’ is to remove ‘unwanted’ things from your body, supposedly purify a certain organ, like your liver, or colon, and you’re just not into it for that. Maybe you don’t actually need to purify an organ, you just want to realx a bit and feel better about yourself. And cleanses usually are pretty strict, and after the few blogs I’ve read, the things they tell you to get are FULL of chemicals, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE of why you’re ‘cleansing’ yourself. Of course, not all of them are like that. In my opinion, which might be wrong, a detox is NOT a diet. Again, I am FAR off a professional on this topic, but still. If you just want to feel cleaner and more relaxed in a short period of time, without necessarily dragging yourself into a big responsibility like that, this might be the post for you. This is what I like to call, a “Multi-Detox”, because not only will it make your skin and body feel and look better, it’ll also make you FEEL better.

 

 

Step One – Drink Loads Of Water


 

Hydrating yourself is KEY to a healthier lifestyle, better skin and better body. Try drinking 8-12 glasses a day, and when you do, don’t just chug it in all at the same time, to get it done. You need to do tiny sips every 5 minutes, so that you don’t just wee all the water out, because that ain’t hydrating. If, for some reason, you don’t like the taste of water, I also like adding a few lemon wedges in it, it just gives it such a nice and refreshing flavour!

Step Two – Replace Sugars


 

Sugar is ‘sweet cocaine’, or ‘white death’, and it seems that today it is put in absolutely EVERY food item there is. Even in YOGHURT. I actually went to my local supermarket a few days ago and looked for a yoghurt with absolutely no sugar in it, and even the ones that say “100% BIO” had around 3 or 4 grams of sugar, which is CRAZY! The ONLY yoghurt in the store that I found that truly was sugar-free, was a soy one, that I had experienced before and tasted HORRIBLE. And all this rave about sugar being put in aliments started from a TV show segment I saw a couple days earlier, and it FREAKED me out! We apparently consume about 2 TONS of sugar each year! CRAZY. I thought it was straight-up BS, but I researched it, and apparently it is true. On aliments, sugar has hundreds of ‘nicknames’, whether it’s ‘Carbohydrates of which sugars’, ‘carrot extract’, ‘sugar cane extract’, it’s everywhere. A great replacement for sugar is stevia, and if you want to completely detox yourself, you might as well eat homemade foods with stevia instead of sugar.

 

 

Step Three – Exfoliate


 

Not only will exfoliators brush away the dead skin and will leave your skin baby-soft, they will actually also brush away toxins from your face, and you’ll just feel better in general. They’re also really fun to do  ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is my favourite exfoliator/scrub recipe, it always increases my mood and makes my skin feel very nice:

Organic Chocolate Scrub:

  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • half a teaspoon of powdered carob

You just mix them all together and slightly brush your face with it, then wash it off with some water. It’s amazing!

Step Four – Have a 30-minute Walk Every Evening


 

We’ve talked about this before, so you know what a walk can do, for me at least. It just helps making my mind up and sorting my thoughts out. It also is great to get out the house more often, and I recommend you go out in the evenings, especially now since it is summer, because you won’t get too hot, it will be the right amount of warm and you’re also moving your body, which is super important.

I’ve also told you that music helps a lot. Here is a tiny playlist with relaxing music that I think might also help you.

Step Five – Sleep More!


 

I see you, all-nighters, taking Buzzfeed quizzes at 3 am to find out what kind of fruit you are, or what % chances you have of being an alien, or which one of Beyonce’s twins you are, I SEE YOU. Seriously though, try to go to bed before midnight, I’m still personally working on that, but my goal is to be able to fall asleep the moment I put my head on my pillow. A great hack for that is not sleeping with your electronic devices in the room, because A) They radiate you, and B) They might disturb your slumber, so yeah. Also, sleeping more is just going to obviously make you feel more hyped and stuff like that, and who doesn’t like sleeping?? I could stay in all day and sleep. It’s my favourite thing ever, after eating. Oh my god, I’m slowly turning into Garfield. You know, that ginger cat that did NOTHING but sleep and eat lasagna? ME AF. Anyway, if you are having trouble falling asleep, drink a glass of vanilla soy milk with a bit of honey in it. You’ll be set to bed in no time, it’s amazing!

Lack of Hype | The Cure

Hey, y’all

The weather here has got a lot worse, which means my anxiety levels automatically increase, because I start believing that just because the sky is a bit cloudy, means that I have to stay inside, which ends up with me feeling absolutely miserable that I am spending my summer inside, since there’s not much left of it ( especially with these back to school videos popping up in my little notification bar, it’s JULY, geez!! ). Yeah, so that basically cut off my source of.. hype I guess? And I wanted it back as fast as possible, so I got up, went outside, plugged in my earbuds and walked my problems away. It really did help me, I breathed fresh air, actually SAW people some people i knew, but instantly walked away, because who EVEN likes those awkward conversations with people you meet after 10 years, where you talk about how you’ve been, and their life ends up being STRAIGHT out of a movie, and there’s your life, sitting inside with a tub of ice cream WATCHING movies. And then it’s that awkward silence, where the both of you try and figure out ways to subtly walk away from the conversa-…oh i’m sorry, where were we? Yea, avoiding human interaction because I’m too socially awkward.

Anyway, listening to good music whilst walking is definitely a way to cheer yourself up. I sat down on a bench, watched the sunset and just thought about life, really. It was great.

And by life, I mean:

  • what makes me smile
  • the songs that give me goosebumps
  • ways to use my creativity

and more tbh hahaย  ๐Ÿ™‚

And walking helped me realise the things I was doing wrong, what I need to do, what I WANT to do, and what I enjoy doing. It got real deep real quick, which was kind of the point, I guess haha. Something about music just makes me get my mind together. I feel like this walk was most effective because I was alone, sometimes I just need to find refuge in something (cheesy af), and for me that is music. If I was surrounded by people, we would obviously discuss more topics and I would forget about my problems, which isn’t the WORST thing ever, but I don’t like running away from my issues. Music makes me feel ~at ease~ (song reference ahhh) and I mean, whenever you feel down, bring yourself up! Do something that excites you, whether it’s doodling, which I also find v effective, reading, maybe even book-writing, baking, just do it! Don’t let a day bring you down. That’s my cheesy lil’ piece of advice for you.

I really enjoy doing these chatty blog posts, even though they might be boring to read (let me know if they are though), I feel like writingย  typing* my thoughts down really gets a lot of weight off my shoulders. Ha, I guess blogging is another thing I find refuge inย  :p

At Ease in Greece

Hey, y’all

Greece has always been my favourite place ever. Not only are its islands absolutely majestic, but also the kind, always-smiling people and the everlasting traditions make it such a welcoming country.  So, this is where I am currently spending my week, in Corfu. It is soooo beautiful, and here you have my attempt of capturing its beauty on tape, and also snippets of my trip. Enjoy!

 

The Ferry


We decided to drive till Corfu, so we spent the night in Thessaloniki, and the next day we got on a ferry. Well, it wasn’t that simple, because we MISSED THE FIRST FERRY AND WE HAD TO WAIT 45 MINUTES IN THE HEAT THAT SEEMED LIKE HELL TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE TO ARRIVE, and then spent the next 2hrs to finally get to Corfu. It was worth it, though! The views were insane, I even captured the sunrise  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Little Church


We found this little church while we were walking and I just had to take photos of it, it was just too cute! It looked straight out of a Pinterest board. One thing I noticed is that a lot of cats were allowed to walk wherever their little fluffy hearts desired. I remember reading an article a loooong time ago about cats, and I believe that once, in Greece, a cat smelt fire coming from a cathedral and basically saved it from destruction by calling the humans, so from then on they were sacred or something..I might be wrong, but please let me know if that is true! There were also loads of pretty flowers there..x

The City


So many people smiling in the streets, blue skies, blue water, an absolute picturesque view. It was such a nice experience, except the heat that felt like entering the gates of hell, but other than that, it was great xxx

Greetings, Hot Weather|Summer Essentials

Holy cow, this school year has gone by faster than twitter drama. Not funny.

And, since we have reached this glorious time of the year, where we either have to hide from the death ball in the sky and stay as secure as possible in this *hot* mess of a weather (get it), or just go outside and enjoy the su-…is that what normal people do?

The Actual List:

  • Sunnies

Sunglasses are so very important, not only because they protect your eyeballs, but they also make things much easier and comfortable to look at and spice up your outfit, which is what makes them absolute essentials.

  • Sun Lotion + SPF Chapstick

This one is pretty staple, like “yeah, we get it, sun lotion, whatever.” WELL, since it’s so basic you MUST wear it, it will save yer butt later on. Also, buy SPF chapstick, since your lips are just as important as your skin. Trust me, it’s worth it.

  •  Tilted Lip Balm + Moisturising Balm

You may not believe this, but my lips actually get twice as dry and chapped in summertime as they do in wintertime. Maybe it’s because of those REALLY hot summers, where the air is always so dry, they just affect my lips. So that is also very important.

  • Bomb-ass Shower Gels

Since the weather is obviously a lot hotter, you’re probably gonna take a few more showers than usual, which means you’re gonna go through a lot of shower gels, which also means that you’re gonna smell like them for some time, so you might as well just get the best scents EVER. My personal favourites are Peony and Juniper Breeze by Bath and Body Works. Peony is just a bit more floral and sweeter and gives me the idea of roses, and then we have Juniper Breeze, which reminds me of a hot summer day underneath an apple tree. Very refreshing! Here are the key notes:

You obviously need a fragrance, and my personal fave is Black Opium, smells lovely!

Pool parties, eh? Naaaaah. But if that is your thing, waterproof mascara is always a priority, or just every day, when the air is especially humid.

  • A Good Blush and A Pinky Lipstick

If you want a look to look more natural, the ideal way is with bronzer, or blush in my case, since I get reaaally tan in the summer. Like literally. My skin tone gets like 847 shades darker. Not kidding.

I personally find that summertime makes lipsticks look 3 times better, but I think pinky lipsticks look the best out of all, but we all have different personal opinions.

  • Sunhats

Do we even have to say anything about this? Do you want to get insolation? No? Good, then wear a damn sunhat. Plus, they look real cute.

  • Cute and Comfortable Sandals

Our feet need a break. They need to breathe. And how do you get that to happen? Sandals. But who wants to spend a whole 7 and a half minutes putting them on? That’s why they have to be comfy and easy to slip into. Those are the ideal shoes โค
